Chic Bridal Styles Cont.

This week we want to highlight some elegant touches that are sure to create a stunning vintage style. We like to use soft accents, which boast an aura of femininity. Please enjoy!

 The Hair

The hair for this type of look can be worn up or down, but we have chosen to highlight these beautiful up-styles because of their adaptability when working with all different textures and densities of hair. Soft curls are strategically pinned to showcase the shape of the curl pattern. We love the accent hairpiece placed asymmetrically, although this style is beautiful with birdcage and traditional veils as well.

The Makeup

Soft makeup

Beautiful soft pinks and oranges for the lips and cheeks, and neutral tones on the eyes keep this look soft and natural. The rose colored lip looks beautiful with ivory wedding gowns.

 The Dress

Lace and ivory detail

An easy way to achieve a vintage feel to your bridal style? Lace! We love gowns and veils that are accented with lace trim, or in the case of the photo, gowns made completely of lace. Trumpet style gowns are a popular cut for this look also.

 The Flowers

Beautiful Bouquet

When designing a bouquet to fit you vintage style, be creative! Ask your florist to help you choose a variety of flowers that will compliment one another. We like pale colors in vintage style bouquets. Think pale greens, soft pinks and oranges, and lilac/lavender tones.

More Summer 2014 Makeup Trends

Please enjoy some more of this season’s hottest makeup trends and some advice from professional makeup artists on how to achieve them!

Beauty female eye with curl long false eyelashes

Incredible Lashes from Top to Bottom – Lashes are the perfect cherry on top to a stunning makeup application. Summer 2014 trends encourage not leaving out those ever-forgotten bottom lashes. Using mascara or eyelash extensions, to overly accentuate the bottom and top lashes creates a sultry and retro 70’s kind of look. Some artists will clump the lashes together to create a more dramatic, high fashion look. Try layering the mascara to achieve incredible lashes. Apply the first coat of mascara to both top and bottom lashes and let dry completely before applying your 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th coat, depending on your desired result. Be careful to apply each layer with finesse. Remember you are shaping and defining the lashes, as well as making them appear fuller.

Beautiful face

Natural makeup – Summer 2014 is bringing good news for those of us who enjoy a quick, everyday, natural makeup application. Natural makeup is all about accentuating one’s naturally beautiful features. Nude/matte lip colors are recommended. Try to pay special attention to the features that shape the face, like the eyebrows and cheekbones. Perfectly groomed and shaped eyebrows and a light, matte bronzer on the cheeks can carry this look entirely. Sometimes using a light powder or tinted moisturizer is more appropriate than using a foundation. Using a heavier foundation with this look requires more makeup on the eyes, lips, and cheeks to ensure that the skin tone does not become washed out, which takes away from the soft natural feel that inspires this trend.

Summer 2014: Low Ponytail

The low ponytail is a fantastic hairstyle because there are so many different versions of this style. It can be soft, dramatic, romantic, fierce, and it’s usually appropriate for shoulder length or longer hair. Hairstyling products make a huge difference in the finish of this style. For sleeker styles, use something to tame frizz and add shine. For styles that have more body in the crown, like the example photo, use a light holding hairspray and rat-tail combs or teasing brushes to achieve extra height.

Low ponytails can be flattering for a variety of face shapes, depending on how the shape of the style is balanced. They are a great option for bridal styling as well. They complement dresses that have a strapless or asymmetric neckline. When wearing a dress with an asymmetric neckline, consider styling the low ponytail more to the side. We usually recommend styling the ponytail off to the opposite side of the strap. This is just one of the many ways to customize this style for almost any occasion.

Dressing up the ponytail is another fun way to tailor this style. The knotted ponytails in the example photos are great options for long hair that doesn’t have much layering. Layers in the hair can make it more difficult to get a smooth appearance on the wrapped hair. Clip-in hair extensions can be used to add intricacy or volume to the style. Another great way to enhance the ponytail, texture! Soft curls can be polished and impart a beautiful, cascading effect.

Never underestimate the potential of this simple style and try it out for a diverse range of events. Happy styling!
